### Summary
**About the Position:**This position is located in the Department of Behavioral Health, Child and Family Assistance Center, at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Fort Wainwright offers soldiers, civilians and their families a special and unique place to live and serve. The post is located in the Tanana River Valley and is co-located with the great city of Fairbanks. Fairbanks, Alaska is host to many different cultures, unique shopping and dining facilities, and sporting activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and skiing. In the summertime, Fairbanks has daylight as long as 22 hours. We have spectacular views of the Northern Lights and larger than life ice sculptures. ### Responsibilities
* Screen and interview patients to assess psychological disorders typically affecting children and adolescents.
* Independently select, administer, score, and interpret psychological tests for the purpose of assessing patients' cognitive, behavioral, educational, and emotional functioning.
* Diagnose behavioral health conditions in accordance with DSM-V criteria or other more current accepted standards.
* Provide individual and group therapy using various evidence based/informed modalities as clinically indicated.
* Consult professional primary care providers regarding the psychological functioning, evidence based practices, and screening of children, adolescents, and families.

### Conditions of Employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
* Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
* This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. **Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist Position:**
**Degree:** Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:
Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
**Specialized experience is defined as:** for a child, pediatric, or adolescent treatment population, conducting psycho-diagnostic assessments, providing crisis intervention, and providing psychotherapy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
**Licensure Requirement**: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
