**Summary:**The ER Physician shall provide services to acute episodic and urgent patient care at Bassett Army Community Hospital, Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks Alaska.


**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)


The HCPs shall perform all procedures and duties that are normal to the scope of that provider's particular specialty and for which privileges are granted by the MTF. These are essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or government Civil Service physician of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

Provide direct patient care consisting of examination, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of general medical conditions.

Provide primary medical care to patients, including prevention and health education and counseling, consistent with training and privileges.

Provide examinations, assessments, and screening of patients who require referral and consultations to other specialty providers.

Perform routine school physicals, sports physicals, and other physicals as required.

Provide consultation required.

Participate in the Performance Improvement Program and hold appointments on committees as required.

Attend command orientation and annual training as required.

Attend Composite Health Care System (CHCS) and AHLTA training as needed.

Participate in medical record review process and preceptor review.

Respond to staff nurse requests for assistance in cases of in-hospital emergencies.

Complete all medical record documentation in the electronic medical record, AHLTA to include closing medical chart notes in the electronic medical record AHLTA.

Ensure appropriate hand off of patients at shift change by giving and receiving oral report on patients whose care is being transferred from one physician to another.

Use the various clinical automation systems as required, such as, but not limited to CHCS, AHLTA, and DMHRSi.

Support the MTF's Commanders' Productivity Plan and policies as they pertain to the Department.

The Contractor will immediately (within 24 hours) report an incident of sexual assault or sexual harassment to the COR.

**Minimum Qualifications:**(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

The HCPs shall be a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy who successfully completed an Accreditation council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Residency Program in Emergency Medicine or a Primary Care Specialty (Family Practice/Medicine, Internal Medicine or Pediatrics).

All HCPs can be Board Eligible or board certified in their specialty by one of the following: American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM), American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice (AOBFP), American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM), American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics (AOBP), or the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).

There is not a minimum experience requirement for Emergency Medicine trained HCPs. All other qualified providers must have a minimum of three years' experience in the last five years in an Emergency Department Setting.

Each HCP shall possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in one of the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or U.S. Virgin Islands and be able to obtain privileges at BACH through approval of the Credentials Committee.

Each HCP shall possess and maintain current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number.

Each HCP shall have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted. BLS recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times while the HCP is performing services under this contract.

Each HCP shall possess and maintain certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced

Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) at HCP's expense.

Each HCP shall be able to obtain privileges and be credentialed (as appropriate) by the MTF's Credentials Committee.



**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**

Shall have sufficient skills, knowledge and experience to perform the specific tasks.

Computer Skills - Able to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and efficiently utilize an Electronic Medical Record

Shall be able to read, write and speak English well enough and enunciate with sufficient clarity to effectively communicate with patients and other Health Care Providers.

Possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that the HCP can relate to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.

Shall use the various clinical automation systems as required, such as, but not limited to Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Ambulatory Data System (ADS), and Defense Medical Human Resource System - internet (DMHRSi).

Contractor personnel shall be required to meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements in AR 351-3 or as determined by the provider's State of licensure, whichever is more stringent. The Governmentwill notreimburse for these costs.
