### Summary
**About the Position:**Serve as Resource Planning Branch Chief; responsible for the development, establishment, and administration of the US Army Garrison, Fort Wainwright, Alaska (USAG-FWA) resource planning (natural and cultural resources, Defense Environmental Restoration Program) to include long range work plans and schedules that implement the goals and objectives of the USAG-FWA environmental program.
**About the Location:** Fairbanks is host to many different cultures; unique shopping and dining facilities as well as sporting activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, snowboarding and skiing. We have spectacular views of the Northern Lights and larger than life ice sculptures. Population is about 87,000. Winter brings consistent snow conditions from November through March. Average winter daylight time is 4 to 6 hours with temperatures averaging 8 degrees F to minus 19 degrees F with extremes down to minus 50; average summer daylight time is 22 hours with temperatures rising into the 70s and 80s.

### Responsibilities
* Ensure USAG-FWA is abiding by and implementing the Federal, State, and local government laws, and Army regulations/policies for the following programs: Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, Pest Management, CERCLA, etc.
* Provide expert professional technical advice to the Division Chief and Command Group on matters related to environmental protection and abatement.
* Prepare and review projects designed to abate, monitor, or investigate environmental impacts.
* Direct the investigating, planning, scope development, design, and remediation/ construction.
* Serve as Supervisor of the Resource Planning/Compliance Branch.

**This position has a basic entry requirement**. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above,**you must also meet**the qualification requirements listed below:
you must also have one year of specialized experience to qualify. Your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: **managing teams involved in determining environmental impacts of activities, evaluating permits, managing compliance environmental inspections and enforcement actions**. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
