This position is project specific for a construction project located in Eielson AFB, Alaska. It is a temporary position for approximately 9 weeks. The position is for a State of Alaska Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) to perform work as needed on
the construction project.

The QEP's goal is to oversee the work being done and be prepared to identify if and/or when contaminated soil is encountered, be able to conduct and supervise the sampling, collection, interpretation and reporting of the soil data, be able to prepare the site
characterization and site assessment reports and investigative follow-up that might be required. The QEP will work closely under the Site Superintendent while in the field. An environmental science undergraduate or graduate degree required, along with familiarity
with government contracting. The ability to read and understand the project contract requirements, along with any local, State or Federal regulations is key. Being a team player is a priority along with good verbal and written communication skills.

This position is fully in Eielson AFB, Alaska. The typical work week will be six days a week for 10 hour days (60 hours per week) although during the summer field work there may be occasional work outside of normal business hours, including weekends.

This position is temporary and project specific.

Essential Functions:

The QEP performs a wide range of project management functions along with the science based knowledge of environmental science.

Specific duties and responsibilities are as follows:

o Observe construction and identify contaminated soils as found

o Ability to practice safe working standards.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Expertise:

o It is essential that the QEP has the ability to work well with people, and has demonstrated strong communication skills both verbal and written.

o Extensive software skills are required, as well as Internet research abilities.

o Planning, organizing, and prioritizing work load are primary duties.

o Ability to work methodically and independently

o Ability to work as part of a team

o Ability to handle high work load during busy months

o Ability to handle high stress loads

Required Experience:

o Completion of a 4 year undergraduate degree or graduate degree from a nationally or internationally accredited post-secondary institution.

o At least one year of professional experience in contaminated site characterization and cleanup activities under a qualified environmental professional for one year after obtaining degree.

Preferred Experience:

o Hazwopper Training

o Experience in the Environmental Science field.

o Familiarity with preparation/review of project work plans and on site construction work and practices.

Authorized Driver Requirement:

Employee must have a valid driver's license and three (3) year clean driving record. Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.
